Holidays from Tirana for Albanians living in the UK

Every summer thousands of Albanians living in London, Manchester or Birmingham do the same thing: fly to Tirana to see the family and, since they are here anyway, leave on a charter for a week in Antalya or Bodrum. The charter package — return flight from Tirana, all-inclusive hotel and airport transfers — usually costs far less than a comparable package bought in the UK, and you see the family on the way.

This guide covers exactly what our UK-based customers ask: how to line up the flights, how many days ahead to arrive in Tirana, which documents you need with an Albanian or a British passport, what it costs and how to pay from abroad.

Lining up the flights: London → Tirana → Antalya

Several airlines fly from the UK to Tirana daily (Wizz Air, easyJet, Ryanair, British Airways — from Luton, Gatwick, Stansted, Heathrow and Manchester), in about 3 hours. The charter to Antalya or Bodrum leaves from Tirana, often early morning or late evening, and takes about 1 hour 45 minutes.

Our advice: arrive in Tirana at least one day before the charter departs. UK flights can be delayed and the charter does not wait — a night in Tirana gives you a safety margin and time with the family. Exact charter times are confirmed before departure; we send them by email and WhatsApp.

Dates and trip length

Antalya and Bodrum charters run through the whole season (May–October) with weekly departures; in July and August there are departures almost daily. The standard stay is 6 nights / 7 days, but many dates also sell 3–10 nights so the trip fits your annual leave.

Real departure dates are on the Tirana–Antalya and Tirana–Bodrum schedule pages, and each date's price on the hotel page. For July–August book in spring: family hotels with an aquapark fill up first.

Documents: Albanian or British passport

With a biometric Albanian passport you enter Turkey visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. The passport must be valid for at least 150 days from the date of entry (we recommend 6 months). ID cards are not accepted.

With a British passport you also enter visa-free for up to 90 days in 180 (since March 2020), with the same 150-day validity requirement. Children travel on their own passports; a child travelling without one parent needs the other parent's notarised consent.

No visa is needed to enter Albania on a British passport. Travel insurance is not mandatory for Turkey, but we recommend it — especially for families.

What it costs and what is included

Charter prices on flytravel.al are TOTALS for 2 adults for the shown date — the return flight from Tirana, the hotel on the stated board (usually all inclusive or ultra all inclusive) and airport–hotel–airport transfers. No hidden fees at checkout. Prices are in euros; the switcher at the top of the page shows an indicative GBP figure at the day's rate.

An all-inclusive week in Antalya for 2 starts from roughly €800–1,000 early and late in the season and rises in July–August; 5-star hotels with an aquapark in Belek, Lara or Side typically cost €1,500–3,000 for 2. Every date has its own price — see today's prices on the price page.

How to book and pay from the UK

Pick the date, hotel and family composition (children's ages affect the price) on the charter page, send the request and confirm with online card payment or a bank transfer — you do not need to be in Albania. The voucher and flight details arrive by email; we are on WhatsApp in Albanian and English.

Relatives travelling from Albania on the same package (parents, cousins) go on the same request — the price is calculated for the whole group and its rooms.

Idea: organized tours from Tirana

If you have more days, escorted group tours with Albanian-speaking guides also depart from Tirana — Istanbul, Dubai, Rome, Vienna, the Maldives — with per-person prices and fixed dates. For many diaspora families it is the easiest way to travel together with parents who do not speak English.

Frequently asked questions

Can I book from the UK without being in Albania?

Yes. You book online at flytravel.al and confirm with card payment or a bank transfer; the documents arrive by email. Help on WhatsApp, in Albanian and English.

How many days before the charter should I arrive in Tirana?

At least one day before. The charter does not wait for your UK flight, and a night in Tirana protects you from delays.

Do I need a visa for Turkey on a British passport?

No — British citizens enter visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period; the passport must be valid for at least 150 days from entry.

Are the prices per person or for 2 people?

Charter prices on our site are totals for 2 adults, with the flight, hotel and transfers included. For families with children the price is calculated from the children's ages.

Can parents travelling from Albania join the same package?

Yes — add them to the same request and we quote the whole group, with the rooms you want.
